As students get older and start doing more research, it is important that they learn about plagiarism. During library classes at Ireland, 4th and 5th grade students will participate in ethics lessons. Plagiarism and copyright infringement are the two biggest issues students face when researching and working on an original piece of writing.
As educators, we need to make sure that we are modeling professional ethics for both print and internet materials. Leading by example shows how important fair use and ethical behavior is for all to follow. Send me an email if you would like to collaborate with me on additional lessons in this area. |
